Washington, DC — The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) has published a letter addressed to Xavier Becerra, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and Jeffrey Zients, White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator, urging the Biden administration to immediately allocate a portion of the U.S. COVID-19 vaccine supply to countries in need.
The letter is co-signed by Victor J. Dzau, NAM President; William Foege, Emeritus Distinguished Professor of International Health, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University; and Helene Gayle, President & CEO, The Chicago Community Trust. Foege and Gayle are co-chairs of the 2020 NAM/National Academies consensus report Framework for Equitable Allocation of COVID-19 Vaccine.
