Priorities on the Health Horizon: Informing PCORI’s Strategic Plan – Meeting Two

This multi-stakeholder meeting of the Priorities on the Health Horizon initiative will build on the insights gained from a prior convening in March 2021, exploring the infrastructure, engagement, and technology prerequisites for patient-centered learning health systems, and the possibilities for building cross-sector collaboration that drives patient-centered, high-value health care. The compelling aim of these meetings is to contribute to PCORI’s efforts in developing its national priorities for health and its revised strategic plan.

The meeting will be anchored by two compelling, forward-looking questions:

What will it take to create a patient-centered learning health system (with respect to infrastructure, technologies, and engagement)?
How can PCORI use its research strategies, unique role, and activities to improve patient experience, outcomes, and value in health and health care?

Underpinning these questions is imperative to center PCORI’s work on improving health equity.

Developing a Nationwide Coordinated System of Shared Health Data with Insight from COVID-19

In this webinar, the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) will explore the role that a nationwide health data governance framework can have in accelerating evidence generation and mobilization for a continuously learning health system.

The conversation will address four key components to building a successful framework:

Determining the conditions needed to share and aggregate health data in the public health domain to support a learning health system,
understanding and addressing the levels of barriers impeding the efforts of various stakeholders to develop seamless data sharing for research to ultimately improve health outcomes,
discerning best practices for research data sharing, and
evaluating success for mobilizing data and evidence generation for research.
