Event

On April 25, 2022, the Action Collaborative on Countering the U.S. Opioid Epidemic convened more than 55 representatives across health professional groups, industry, federal agencies, advocacy groups, academia and research, payment and reimbursement, and health systems, to explore how telehealth and virtual care modalities and services can be used to improve—and catalyze new innovative approaches to—the delivery of pain management and SUD care.

Through a combination of presentations, panel discussions, and participant Q&A, this meeting sought to:

  • Consider how the delivery of pain management and SUD care can be reimagined in a future hybrid environment—integrating both in-person and virtual care modalities—to better meet the needs of patients, clients, caregivers, and clinicians
  • Examine the applications for various virtual modalities, discussing both limitations and advantages for each relative to the delivery of pain management and SUD care
  • Discuss opportunities for telehealth and virtual care to enable and facilitate comprehensive multidisciplinary, team-based care in a hybrid environment for both pain management and SUD care.

Meeting materials, including the full recording of the event along with the agenda and presentations, are available below. Discussion proceedings capturing key themes and future priorities for actions gleaned from the discussion are in development and will be added to this page once available.
