The American Academy of Family Physicians and the National Academy of Medicine held a free webinar on 12/18 that explored best practices, research gaps, and future priorities for clinicians as they support patients tapering from long-term opioid therapy.
The session begun with an introduction from moderator Helen Burstin, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the Council of Medical Speciality Societies, and then short presentations from an expert panel:
- Robert “Chuck” Rich, Jr., Bladen Medical Associates and Campbell University
- Ada D. Stewart, American Academy of Family Physicians
- Liz Bentley, Kaiser Permanente Northwest
- David O’Gurek, Temple Health
Panel presentations were followed by a moderated discussion and time for questions and answers with the listening audience.
