The NAM held a two-part report release webinar on Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 8:00 am — 10:00 am ET (Session 1) and from 1:00 pm — 3:00 pm ET (Session 2) to discuss findings and recommendations from four reports on Advancing Pandemic and Seasonal Vaccine Preparedness and Response: Harnessing Lessons from the Efforts to Mitigate the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The four reports assess the global impact that capabilities, technologies, processes, and policies developed for COVID-19 could have on pandemic and seasonal influenza global preparedness and response, especially regarding vaccine development.
The four reports,
- Countering the Pandemic Threat through Global Coordination on Vaccines: The Influenza Imperative
- Vaccine Research and Development to Advance Pandemic and Seasonal Influenza Preparedness and Response: Lessons from COVID-19
- Public Health Lessons for Non-Vaccine Influenza Interventions: Looking Past COVID-19, and
- Globally Resilient Supply Chains for Seasonal and Pandemic Influenza Vaccines
were developed by committees of experts from across sectors (e.g., government, academia, industry, civil society, international public health organizations) and a variety of disciplines (e.g., global public health; infectious disease prevention; influenza vaccine research, development, and manufacturing; pandemic preparedness and response; virology, and immunology) to inform the U.S. Health and Human Services Office of Global Affairs (OGA) and facilitate its efforts to advance global influenza pandemic preparedness.
