As society enters a new decade marked by rapid changes in science and technology, increased pressure on health systems and stresses in working environments, the rise of infectious disease crises and other health threats, there is a need to revisit the current model of academic medicine, to assess the functions of academic health sciences systems (AHSS), and to redefine their futures. The webinar will explore the current state of academic medicine and how AHSS can contribute to better health and well-being in the context of a changing environment.

Victor Dzau, President of the NAM, will provide an overview of Revisiting academic health sciences systems a decade later: discovery to health to population to society, recently published in The Lancet. His presentation will be followed by comments from a panel of experts, and a subsequent conversation moderated by Richard Horton, Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet. The conversation will be followed by a Q&A session.
