This meeting aims to increase the networked communication with and among the leadership of the growing numbers of hospital- and health care center-based patient and family advisory groups. It is a follow-on activity to the IOM workshop, Partnering with Patients to Drive Shared Decisions, Better Value, and Care Improvements. Partners in this activity are Blue Shield of California Foundation and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
At this meeting, participants will:
- Improve understanding of the national profile of hospital- and health center-based patient and family advisory councils.
- Explore ways to improve communication and cooperation among advisory council leaders on their care system improvement activities, and between those in the council leadership community and the leadership of national care improvement efforts.
- Consider strategies for using information technology to increase communication with and among council leadership.
- Discuss opportunities and priorities for collaborative action to build a strong networked capacity.
